Cleantech start-up Smart Storage Pty Ltd is developing its "Ecoult" brand innovative hybrid battery suitable for off-grid electricity storage from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind.
Cleantech Ventures has made a significant investment in the company based on the technology potential and the market demand for a cost effective high performance energy storage solution, considered the missing link for renewable energy power systems.
The Ecoult technology is a hybrid battery which combines an asymmetric ‘supercapacitor' electrode and a lead-acid battery into a one-unit cell, without the need for external electronic control
Extensive technology development is now under way to produce a low cost and easily manufactured deep cycle battery that meets demanding off-grid renewable energy operating conditions.
