Active Reactor Company signs contract with Sylvania Lighting

12/06/2007 - Active Reactor Company signs contract with Sylvania Lighting

The Active Reactor Company have achieved a major commercial breakthrough by signing an agreement with Sylvania Lighting Australasia, the country's leading street lighting supplier, to distribute their product locally.

Export markets are now firmly in the company's sights.

The Active Reactor technology is an electric controller for high intensity lamps such as those found in street lighting, sports stadia, freight terminals, sea ports and airports as well as many industrial settings.

By controlling the amount of power used by the lamps the technology provides energy saving of up to 25% over the life of the lamp resulting in energy cost savings and corresponding greenhouse gas reductions. By avoiding ‘over-burning' the lamp life is increased by around 50% and therefore also reduces maintenance costs.

To support their marketing effort the Active Reactor Company will be conducting two major demonstrations of their technology in Melbourne and the Latrobe Valley.

The Melbourne demonstration will take place in the CBD and is being conducted with the support of City of Melbourne and electricity distribution company CitiPower. The Latrobe Valley demonstration will involve up to 500 lamps and has the support and involvement of Latrobe City, Vicroads and local electricity distribution company SP AusNet.
